Full Job Description

Ranch Foreman

Work closely with Ranch Manager overseeing and carrying out day to day ranch operations including weekends and Holidays:

  • Work with and supervise ranch hands and grounds workers daily and H2A workers as needed
  • Carry out cattle health plan and administer vaccinations and treatments
  • Carry out cattle nutritional program and pasture rotations as instructed by Ranch Manager
  • Be responsible for calving cows including tagging, tattooing, and weighing newborns as needed
  • Keep necessary records such as cattle treatments, weights as needed, feed/hay distribution, equipment maintenance, calving, and breeding records as needed
  • Insure basic equipment maintenance occurs at proper interval and perform as needed
  • Be actively involved and lead pasture maintenance (mowing, spraying, and planting)
  • Be actively involved and lead hay production as needed
  • Insure that fences are maintained and contribute to fence repairs and new fence construction as needed
  • Maintain water troughs and do what is necessary to insure that cattle have access to water at all times
  • Oversee/supervise outside contractors as needed (fertilizer, lime, feed deliveries, and others)
  • Fill in where needed in the absence of other workers or if the workload requires additional assistance
  • Be observant and aware of all ranch happenings and conditions and report appropriately to Ranch Manager
  • Set a good example and uphold high standards (in everything from integrity to ranch aesthetics)
  • Assume responsibility in absence of Ranch Manager
  • Contribute to overall ranch success

Expected results, general guidelines, schedules, oversight, and any details needed will be provided by Ranch Manager

Preferred qualifications include:

  • Minimum of 5 years of prior cattle experience
  • Animal Science or Agriculture related degree preferred
  • A.I. experience
  • Supervisory experience
  • Well rounded knowledge, attention to detail, teach-ability, and willingness to do all ranch jobs
  • General ranch equipment experience including basic maintenance, hay production, and pasture maintenance
  • Ability to keep good records

Pay: $38,000.00 – $42,500.00 per year
