Northrop Grumman is seeking a Cloud Architect SME (Technology Subject Matter Expert (SME)) to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals in defining the future. This full time position is located in Atlanta, GA. The qualified candidate will support dissemination of vital public health information from a large organization within the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems. Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal. Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Conceptualizes designs, procures, and/or builds secure information technology (IT) systems, with responsibility for aspects of system and/or network development.
  • Develops system concepts and works on the capabilities phases of the systems development life cycle; translates technology and environmental conditions (e.g., law and regulation) into system and security designs and processes.
  • Develops and maintains business, systems, and information processes to support enterprise mission needs; develops information technology (IT) rules, and requirements that describe baseline and target architectures.
  • Utilizes expertise on specific technologies and applies the principles of software engineering to the design, development, maintenance, testing, and evaluation of computer software. Make use of specific technologies to further enterprise goals.


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 12 years of experience.
  • Architect experience for Hybrid Cloud Services, Application, System and Network Virtualization, Enterprise Shared Services, Enterprise Transparent Encryption, Federation Services, Data Warehousing.
  • Demonstrated experience in translating technical content into formats written in plain language and easy to understand.
  • Strong problem solving skills along with outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize competing demands in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong skill and ability to organize data and information clearly and present to the client.
  • Ability to recommend new and innovative ideas to foster strategic objectives.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Must be a US Citizen or a Green Card Holder

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master-level resource with B.S./M.S. or equivalent, master-level specialized knowledge, 12-20 years of specialized solution, engineering and practitioner experience, mastery of multiple technologies, IT strategy and governance, program and team leadership experience
  • Experience in managing content needs across an agency the size of CDC.
  • Experience working in an Agile Team
  • Working knowledge of JIRA or TFS
  • Security certification a plus
  • Previous experience with CDC
  • Leadership capability to lead other Cloud developers
