Despite the pandemic, ‘the movies’ remains inculcated in American culture

And quacks like a duck.… Hopefully, this won’t sound too cynical or inappropriately dismissive of recent events, but one, well, encouraging aspect of last week’s assault on the Capitol is that people still said things like “It was like something out of a movie.” I didn’t hear anyone say “It was like something on Netflix or Amazon Prime.” Going out to the movies may remain perilous in realistic terms, but the notion of “the movies”…
