Northeast Georgia Health System (NGHS) is a non-profit community health system on a mission of improving the health of our community in all we do. Our team cares for more than 1 million people across the region through four hospitals and a variety of outpatient locations. Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) has campuses in Gainesville, Braselton, Winder and Dahlonega – with a total of more than 700 beds and more than 1,100 medical staff members representing more than 50 specialties. NGHS also encompasses Northeast Georgia Physicians Group, a multi-specialty group with more than 65 locations, and The Heart Center of Northeast Georgia Medical Center, a cardiology practice with more than 15 locations.


Job Summary:

The IT Director of Enterprise Architecture is responsible for IT technical strategy as the organization’s top design resource. Advises the Chief Information Officer and Chief Technology Officer on matters of technical strategy. Oversees the actions of other architects and ensures the alignment of the organization’s mission, strategy, and processes to the IT strategy using a variety of architectural models. Maps the relationship between information system components (i.e. end users, business process, applications, data, IT platform hardware/software, and networks). Identify key interactions and dependencies across separate systems and platforms. Evaluate total cost of ownership on and return on investment of various architecture alternatives. Expands the company’s use of technology as a strategic enabler of goals and objectives. Personally responsible for the most important and complex projects. Involved in the development of policies, standards and guidelines that direct the selection, development, implementation and use of IT within the organization.

Minimum Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree preferred.
  • 5 years of progressive technology leadership. 15 years of progressive technology experience 3 years of architecture experience in large and complex environments. Minimum of 10 years of healthcare experience, 20 years required.
  • ITIL Intermediate (v3 or v4).

Job Specific and Unique Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • A master facilitator capable of leading a large, cross-functional teams of technology, business, and clinical experts to create highly optimized, integrated solutions that meet business needs.
  • Experience in the analysis and competitive benchmarking of IT expenditures to ensure NGHS IT investments produce maximum value, are cost-competitive, spending is highly transparent, and IT is cost-optimized.
  • Successful track record advancing the process maturity of IT Infrastructure teams including the use of ITIL processes such as CMDB, Asset management, Change Management, Knowledge Management, and Problem Management.
  • Extremely broad technology experience including, infrastructure, applications, biomedical, security, and cloud.
  • Extensive experience in ServiceNow including creating actionable views of ITSM data which can be used to enable strategic and management decisions.
  • Project management experience, including waterfall, scrum and agile methodologies

Essential Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Collate and overlay vendor roadmaps with business and technology strategy to ensure proper alignment, avoid conflicts, and produce maximum value for NGHS.
  • Report on the process health of the Technical services team to ensure teams comply with established processes to produce the desired value. Acts as process owner and overseer of the knowledge management and system documentation process for the Technical Services team.
  • Lead solution design and selection process to identify the most optimal solution to meet business needs.
  • Play a key role in the risk assessment of new technologies, creating conceptual, logical, and data diagrams which will serve as the initial seed of official systems documentation.
  • Establish data architecture for infrastructure management tools in order to ensure accurate and compliant CMDB for NGHS IT assets.
  • Lead complex and multidimensional problem resolution across diverse technical, business, and clinical teams in high visibility and high-stress situations.
  • Govern the integrity of key IT processes which feed key performance indicators for Technical Services teams.
  • Competently represent multiple IT departments in project scoping calls, able to articulate level of effort, costs, risks, integration points, and technology conflicts or overlaps.
