About the Opportunity

As a Facilities Supervisor at Pitney Bowes, you Assists with maintaining daily operations of the physical facility.

In this role, you’ll join our Presort Service team in Atlanta, GA. You will be responsible for:


  • Develops and leads a safety improvement program with the support and direction of the VP/GM and Corporate management.
  • Develops action plans to remediate any deficient items identified in site audits conducted by Mail Services Environment, Health and Safety Manager and/or Pitney Bowes EH&S or outside auditors/inspectors.
  • Cascades key safety communications to site and VP/GM or Mail Services EH&S Manager as appropriate
  • Leads Atlanta safety committee comprised of leads, supervisors and/or managers to promote safety awareness and to implement key safety policies within the operating center.
  • Liaises with Mail Services EH&S Manager and/or Pitney Bowes EH&S in implementing corporate safety programs in the site.
  • Assists location management as needed in the investigation of work-related accidents, determining the root cause, and implementing any corrective actions identified.
  • Creates reports, message boards, posters and flyers for employees to learn of key safety policies and to understand local metrics and results.
  • Liaises with other safety coordinators or safety champions within Atlantic region operating centers to discuss common concerns and share best practices. Occasionally leads and participates in regional conference calls to discuss relevant safety initiatives and results.
  • Assists OSHA record keepers in properly managing the OSHA 300 logs, including the annual posting of the 300A summary form.
  • Assists with managing employee return to work program.
  • Supports and promotes the ergonomics effort by monitoring activities for effectiveness and facilitating. Identifies opportunities for improving ergonomics within the center. Develops business case to implement key improvements.
  • Promotes and supports environmental initiatives, including waste management/disposal and recycling programs.
  • Assists Mail Services EH&S Manager and/or Pitney Bowes EH&S in addressing safety related issues during facility relocations, start-ups or renovations in the region.
  • Provides periodic reports to the VP/GM on the status of health and safety efforts.
  • Develops, leads and conducts regular safety awareness training programs for all production staff. Work with Corporate and Regional management to establish employee safety certification program.
  • Seeks outside resources (formal and informal training) to maintain high level of industry knowledge and best practices. Implements gained knowledge as appropriate.
  • Occasional travel to other operating centers may be required in effort to learn of best practices and to share key elements of local safety program.

Facility and Security Responsibilities

  • Oversees and directs maintenance and janitorial personnel and workers engaged in equipment installations, facilities equipment repair and preventive maintenance for the Atlanta Facility.
  • Provides support to Operations in maintaining and ordering necessary supplies (including postal supplies)
  • Develops and maintains positive relationships with vendors.
  • Develops manage and monitor the implementation of a preventive maintenance schedule for all building system, generators, UPS and other system assigned by management.
  • Ensures all work done on Pitney Bowes property is compliant with Pitney Bowes, State and Federal codes and policies.
  • Coordinates and monitors contractor efforts, performance, and compliance with safety and environmental requirements
  • Assists with development and implementation of emergency preparedness plans and functions as an emergency contact.
  • Manages major capital projects
  • Addresses and ensures facility services and support needs are continuously addressed and met.
  • Respond on an as-needed basis to emergencies – such as system failures, fire alarms, severe weather, etc., 24 x 7.
  • Interfaces with all levels of management, functional staffs, contractors, and outside agencies.
  • Regularly communicates with management to report operational status of facility.
  • Provides oversight to ensure that high quality operations and maintenance service is provided to assure proper performance of equipment and building systems.
  • Provides regular monthly written status reports to management.
  • Manages and oversees physical Security for the Atlanta Facility, and manages relationship with the security vendor
  • Administers and audits physical access controls and assists in preparation of scheduled reports related to physical access
  • Performs scheduled updates to the site Business Continuity Plan and associated documentation
  • Other duties as assigned

Employee management

  • This is a supervisory position. The person in this role is expected to manage the Facility Lead and Facility Assistant (potentially) who support the Facilities Supervisor in completion of daily tasks.



3+ Facilities Management experience w/ Safety & Security preferred.

Knowledge as it pertains to required safety and health programs in transportation and a production environment, including workers compensation

  • Audit experience with emphasis on OSHA and state regulatory agencies is preferred
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills required.
  • Strong Time Management Skills
  • Must be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team
  • Must be able to manage multiple projects and initiatives simultaneously.
  • Proficient in MS office applications, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook. Reporting & Analytics preferred
  • The candidate must have proven problem-solving abilities in facilities management as it relates to space design and project management.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and other technical documentation.
  • Ability to maintain excellent working relations with other staff and building tenants.
  • Proven record of excellent customer service.
  • Strong organization and communication skills.
  • Excellent Leadership and team building skills.
