Instructional Content Developer

Big Blue Swim School (BBSS) is a fast-growing, mission-driven company that aims to show kids they can do anything by unlocking their full potential in the water. With five existing stores providing children’s retail-based swim lessons and a goal to sell 150 franchises by 2021, the team is looking for an Instructional Content Developer with a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and an insatiable appetite for growth.

This role will work with the Instructional Designer to conduct in-depth job-task analysis and/or needs assessment to resolve training solutions for Big Blue Swim School. This role will develop franchise partner, manager, and associate training programs to include overall program objectives as well as content and e-learning courses. The position has the opportunity to act as an instructor from time to time, to fulfill the need for classroom and field training facilitation.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Applies knowledge of instructional design and adult learning theory to develop course content. Works with Instructional Designer to create new training programs from scratch.
  • Develops training for traditional classroom, online classroom, self-paced e-learning modules or a blend of approaches. Training methodologies may include group lecture, role-play, simulation exercises, self-study, on-the-job training, computer-based training, etc.
  • Creates course quizzes, exams, facilitator guides, facilitator presentations, and course handouts.
  • Executes evaluation strategies and tools to measure program effectiveness and to determine whether desired learning and performance goals are achieved.
  • Works with Instructional Designer and vendors to produce and edit media for training deliverables (graphics, photos, video, audio, etc.).

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree/equivalent experience required. 3+ years of training development experience.
  • Prior experience includes working with complex content and developing training for multiple delivery modalities (traditional/online classroom, and self-paced e-learning modules).
  • Demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrates excellent project management skills.
  • Has broad knowledge of instructional technologies, is thoroughly proficient in the advanced use of e-learning tools, and can augment regular functionality with custom programming.
