Position Purpose:


Responsibilities Include:

  • Providing oversight and guidance for establishing the terms and conditions for long-term pig contracts and spot market pig transactions.

  • Providing business development that attracts prospective pig suppliers and buyers.

  • Developing business arrangements that assist counter parties in reaching their business objectives over a wide range of market conditions.

  • Providing ongoing support for customers, suppliers, and team members via telephone, electronic communication, farm visits and meetings.

  • Establishing, monitoring, and managing business goals and guidelines.

  • Building, implementing, and managing budgets.

  • Navigating the business through continual change by accessing and integrating information gathered from a wide variety of sources.

  • Ensuring compliance with regulations and industry guidelines.

  • Leading and Developing sales talent initiatives, skill sets and market place competencies.

  • Collaborating closely with team members, feed sales personnel, suppliers, and customers to achieve shared successes.


Qualifications:


Required Experience & Education:

  • This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, a DVM degree preferred, or a closely related discipline or equivalent experience.

  • A strong business background is recommended.

  • The candidate must possess knowledge of the current swine industry, weaned pig contracts, and agricultural markets.


Required Competencies & Other Skills:

  • The successful candidate should have basic command of swine production, swine health, weaned pig contracts and agricultural markets.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required along with strong organization and time management skills.

  • Success in this position requires high internal drive, a natural ability for relationship building, negotiation skills, and leadership in a team environment.

  • Computer skills are required, specifically MS Office. Requires the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.


Preferred Experience:

  • Candidates with experience demonstrating the capability to grow business through teamwork and influencing internal and external stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated Team Leadership skills.


Preferred Competencies & Other Skills:

  • Hands on experience with swine production, weaned pig contracts, business management, and networking within the swine industry.
