Summary:

Chenega is seeking an experienced Public Health Analyst I to support the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Division of Healthcare Quality Promotion (DHQP), Epidemiology Research and Innovations Branch (ERIB). This person will provide programmatic and scientific knowledge and support to CDC subject matter experts on the administration of bacterial and fungal infection research activities. The PHA I will identify and analyze public health issues while organizing scientific or technical materials prepared by different parties.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide programmatic and scientific technical knowledge to CDC subject matter experts on the administration of bacterial and fungal infection research activities.
  • Facilitate communications with internal and external partners and responds to requests as needed.
  • Facilitate project monthly conference calls, webinars, and in-person meetings related to bacterial and fungal infection research activities.
  • Identify and analyze public health issues and their impact on public policies or scientific studies or surveys.
  • Analyze study or project implementation procedures for improvement.
  • Work with contract officers, program specialists, and/or scientists as appropriate, to develop viable implementation procedures and coordinate with appropriate staff to make needed changes.
  • Perform day-to-day project management tasks to support ERIB led and supported research to ensure objectives are accomplished. As necessary, recommend or take corrective action based on scientific and technical expertise.
  • Participate with scientists and program consultants in various aspects of the project development process, including conducting a search or review of the existing literature and data in a scientific area, and prepare and/or present summaries for a variety of purposes.
  • Participate in meetings, conferences, 2-4 site visits, and other gatherings, to ensure communication and evaluate progress towards project completion.
  • Prepare summary reports to report progress towards project completion.
  • Organize and synthesize scientific or technical materials prepared by different parties.
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)

  • Two (2) to Four (4) years of relevant, direct comparable or similar work experience.
  • Previous experience with CDC’s Emerging Infections Program (EIP), cooperative agreements, or CDC contracts is preferable.
  • Completed bachelor’s degree. Epidemiology related coursework is preferable

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with harm reduction and/or substance use prevention, particularly relating to opioid use would be beneficial; someone who has worked on projects related to viral hepatitis or HIV may have a sufficient level of familiarity with this topic.
  • Experience with project management/coordination.
  • Professional working knowledge within SharePoint.
  • Professional interpersonal and computer skills, to include but not limited to, skills in operating Microsoft Office software, with emphasis on Word, Excel, Power Point, and Outlook as well as SharePoint.
  • Skills in managing and prioritizing multiple assignments with strict deadlines and ability to coordinate efforts among many offices.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written).
  • Expertise to prepare and present information/data via oral briefing(s) and/or by written reports
