Position summary

T-Mobile USA is a leading provider of digital GSM/GPRS, UMTS, and LTE wireless voice and data technology standards. Senior Engineers, Software located in Atlanta, GA will translate business and functional requirements into documented technical and architectural specifications.

Position duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Design and develop APIs and microservices, as required to deliver new digital functionality supporting enterprise business initiatives.
  • Facilitate (walkthroughs) of technical specifications and program code with other members of the technical team, communicating design, requirements, feature set, functionality and limitations of systems/applications to team and development lead.
  • Utilize planning and leadership skills to oversee development deliverables as required to implement new systems capabilities.
  • Contribute to and work to meet project schedules by providing accurate estimates of effort required for development deliverables, by providing updates on project progress to development and project management, and by escalating issues that might affect project success to management.
  • Utilize development skills to build (code) and unit test new systems functionality per technical specifications, with deliverables to include code builds and documented unit test results.
  • Identify new approaches to complex design problems (federated identity, complex event processing, embedded real-time, and cooperating ecosystems).
  • Influence non-technical aspects of technology change including business and operational architectures.
  • Collaborate with other teams including Business, Architecture, Enterprise Testing, Release Management, Project Management and Application Support for successful delivery of systems enhancements.
  • Participate and drive the automation of operational processes in support of SDLC tools to enable self-service and self-governance.
  • Develop application support documentation, as required by the application support teams for acceptance of systems changes into production.
  • Build and unit test production deployment packages and implementation plans for scheduled systems enhancements.
  • Utilize departmental Digital Development Lifecycle Methodology as a guide for development activities.
  • Provide on-call and after-hours support, as required for production releases and to respond and provide support on production outages.

Minimum Qualifications

Skill requirements:

  • (1) Performing REST APIs / Webservices / design and development.
  • (2) Developing using Spring and related frameworks.
  • (3) Creating Unit and automated testing using Junit or related frameworks.
  • (4) Identifying technical specifications and performing application design.
  • (5) Application development and programming code using Java / JavaScript programming languages and JQuery, Angular, NodeJS and related frameworks.
  • (6) Working with Relational and NoSQL Databases, such as Oracle and MongoDB.

Experience and education requirements:

PRIMARY REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related, and 3 years of relevant work experience.

ALTERNATIVE REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science or related, and 5 years of relevant work experience.
