Responsibilities and Duties

  • Processing surplus lines tax transactions based on the state regulations and within the deadlines set by those state entities. This includes, but is not limited to, affidavit processing, forwarding of policy to appropriate state (if required), and logging of transactions, etc.
  • Completing and filing tax reports on a monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual basis; involves running of reports and verification of data to ensure accuracy of information, and processing of check requests, making sure to meet all filing deadlines.
  • Reconciling and correcting discrepancies between the tax report and tax documentation received
  • Researching, monitoring and implementing any changes required to ensure compliance with each state’s surplus lines requirements.
  • Assisting team supervisor with any surplus lines’ audits – verifying transactions, documents and filings.
  • Interacting with our Corporate Compliance department as needed on all surplus lines’ transaction processing and reporting.
  • Ensuring all compliance guidelines are properly followed on non-admitted transactions.
  • Performing other related duties as required including assisting corporate accounting department when requested.
  • Keeping team supervisor apprised of any state updates

We are looking for someone with the knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Accounting and/or bookkeeping experience.
  • Excellent computer skills, Microsoft Office proficiency with an emphasis in Excel spreadsheets and Outlook
  • Strong math and analytical skills
  • Must have exceptional attention to detail
  • Deadline-oriented and able to prioritize workload.
  • Possesses positive and professional attitude
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work activities independently.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work as a team player and as well as work independently.
